This £2 coin marks the 100th Anniversary of the Outbreak of the First World War.

On the reverse of this coin is a depiction of the famous recruitment poster featuring Lord Kitchener, with the words YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU.

The outer ring has the inscription THE FIRST WORLD WAR 1914 – 1918, with the date 2014 below.

The JB initials of the artist John Bergdahl are in the left field under the figure’s arm.

The image of British war minister Lord Kitchener’s index finger unsettlingly aimed at the viewer remains immediately recognisable 100 years after its design.
